EMORY G. BAUER FIELD
|
Emory G. Bauer Field has been home to the Valparaiso University baseball team since the 1970 season.
Constructed out at the Eastgate Athletic Fields, major renovations to the facility have taken place beginning in 2001.
A state-of-the-art clubhouse was constructed along the first base line featuring offices for the coaches and staff of the Crusader program. Two locker rooms, equipped with showers, provide ample space for the Crusaders. The complex also features a training room and indoor hitting cages. A team room featuring a kitchen, television, and a variety of games, allows for the players and staff to feel at home.
In addition, a small training room facility is also located within the confines of the clubhouse.
The exterior of the clubhouse connects with Emory G. Bauer Field to provide an above-ground dugout for the Crusaders.
Prior to the 2008 season, a new wooden outfield fence as well as a flag pole were installed as well. In addition, the sound system was upgraded to add to the game day ambiance. In 2011, a new visitors’ dugout and backstop were erected and the parking lot was re-graded.
With a grandstand seating capacity of 500, fans will also line the third base line on sunny days beyond the visitor's dugout in their own lawn chairs.
A press box, with radio broadcast capabilities is perched atop the grandstands. The press box received a fresh look prior to the 2008 season as well.
